55 years in a pre-loved shirt!

-

In 1966, 27-year-old Tony Poling was walking in Snowdonia with his dad when he found a shirt hanging off a branch in a river. Tony rescued it, washed it and kept it. Some 55 years later, it’s still going strong, accompanying Tony, now 82, on all his walks.

As he puts it: “Sustainability wasn’t something we were aware of back in my day; it was a natural mindset we grew up with: make do and mend. Or find and foster!”

The shirt was made by outdoor retailer Ellis Brigham, which is likewise standing the test of time, and is still run by the outdoorloving Brigham family.

Says director Mark Brigham: “Tony’s story just goes to show that it pays to opt for good quality clothing that will stand the test of time, rather than fast fashion than needs replacing regularly.” Good point, well made. ellis-brigham.com
