Re-engaging with the world

‘I recently walked and lunched with fellow challenger Simon Basford. It was significant because the pandemic had left both of us lacking the confidence to move out of lockdown mode. It would have been easy to say ‘sorry, we can’t do that’. But deep down I wanted to meet him and thank him personally for his support and for being a good Facebook friend. To me it was a big step forward and I’m so pleased I was able to kick my anxiety demon into touch and enjoy some time with a friend I would never have met had it not been for #walk1000miles.’ Joy Meakin
