Feet of memory

-

Your article about socks recently brought back some memories. We walked a lot as a family when I was growing up and Dad taught me it was important to look after your feet. When I left school I started work at the pit. This involved walking miles in heavy working boots.

Mam knitted and darned all my work socks. I’m in my seventies now and have always done a lot of walking – Lakes, Peak District and anywhere we happen to be.

In all those years and miles I’ve never had a blister. All down to being shown how to look after my feet. Arthur Franks, Westwoodside
