Pleasure postponed

In May 2016, I spotted Dave Kirkpatrick’s walk, Glen River and Slieve Donard, County Down, in your magazine and cut it out in the hope of one day visiting the area and climbing Slieve Donard.

Fast forward to 2019 and my husband and I were invited to a wedding in Newcastle, County Down, due to take place in July 2020. So I was delighted to discover Keith Fergus’ article on Newcastle in the March 2020 magazine, with the stunning photo from the top of Slieve Donard, Northern Ireland’s highest point. Murlough National

Nature Reserve and one climbing Slieve Donard. I cut them out and put them with the wedding file hoping I would finally realise a long term ambition. We all know what happened then, Covid-19 hit, and the wedding was postponed.

But fast forward again to August 2021, and it was go. In the meantime CW had published a further walk in the area, Tollymore Forest Park, also selected by Keith in June 2021.

Delighted to say my husband and I were finally able to enjoy all the Northern Ireland walks while over for the wedding, and I enclose a photo of your route instructions on each! Morag Loader, Surrey
