If it’s possible to be hugged by a top, then hugged you will be by this fleece from Craghoppers. Its unique selling point is a fleece fabric impregnated with six naturally found minerals, which help reflect your body’s own infrared rays back into the body. Soft and snug, it’s an absolute joy to pull on. And ‘pull on’ is the term here: the Dynamic doesn’t have a full-length zip, but it does have a fairly lengthy top zip that zips right down to mid-chest level. I found that offered great options for ventilation when slogging up hills, or for maximising warmth on chilly days. It has a cordadjustable hood which feels very secure and cosy when the fleece is fully zipped up against a nippy breeze. The Dynamic doesn’t offer any weather-proofing features though: a cold wind will bite through its polyester marl quite easily. In that respect it’s a very simple fleece, but it does what it sets out to do with grace and aplomb: it fits beautifully, moves well around the shoulders, and offers a layer of warmth and comfort that really makes a difference to the enjoyment of a walk. And what’s more, it’s made from nine recycled plastic bottles. RB
