ROHAN Frostpoint Vest

-

RRP £110 Target price £110

Like a swig of hot chocolate on a winter’s day, the Frostpoint had a marvellous warming effect around my midriff, which kicked in soon after I slipped it on. It was my own body heat, of course. What the vest did was help trap that precious warmth. It’s all down to the 60g of polyester wadding between the outer and inner layers of the vest that Rohan call Insuloft, which has a higher warmth-to-weight ratio than fleece. It’s not only light, it’s highly compressible too, meaning I could squish the whole vest down to the size of a grapefruit for stowing in my rucksack. There’s an internal mesh pouch with a drawcord for just such an eventuality, complementing the two zipped handwarmer pockets, plus another in the chest. The Frostpoint can fit under a waterproof or function over a fleece. The outer shell fabric is coated with a durable water repellent and there’s a storm flap under the main zip – though you might deem these superfluous in a vest. In my usual size I found it baggy, so I recommend trying it on in-branch if you can. Nitpicking aside, a top-notch vest. PT
