WINTER WISDOM

-

Walking trousers will often specify that they are ‘high-wicking’, but what do we mean by wicking? AKA capillary action, it’s the process of moving moisture between spaces, for example from your skin, through layers of clothing, to an outer surface – even though in theory, gravity and momentum are working against it.

Once on the outer surface, the moisture can spread out, which means it will evaporate quicker and cease troubling you. Wicking is just as important in winter as it is in summer – possibly more so, as you don’t want heat building up next to your skin when it’s swathed in two or three warm layers.
