The word is…
‘The coast path from Solva to Newgale is brilliant. Round off a walk with a visit to Sands Café. Or go Abereiddy to Porthgain and enjoy lunch at the
Sloop Inn.’ (01348 831449; thesloop.co.uk)

December sees the city’s Cross Square decked out in festive lights. Christmas Carol services are held in the cathedral. Admission is free (for events, see stdavidscathedral.org.uk).
For a cosy city bolthole, try Goat Street Cottage,
which sleeps up to five people. Three-night stays in early December cost around £378 (07946 545603; goatstreet cottage.co.uk). See visitpembrokeshire.com
for more places to stay.
Pembrokeshire’s walkerfriendly coastal buses provide a limited winter service. On Wednesdays, the Puffin Shuttle swings south from St Davids to Marloes. Thursdays see the Strumble Shuttle weave up the coast to Fishguard (see timetables at bit.ly/ pembs-buses) ‘The tearoom above Pebbles Yard Gallery is always good. Further afield, The Cambrian Inn (01437 721210; thecambrianinn.co.uk)
at Solva and The Castle
at Little Haven are our favourites when we’re in the area.’ @penny_pjt
