Three Lochs Way
34 miles/55km
From the freshwater spectacle of Loch Lomond to the briny drama of Loch Long, and the secretive depths of Gare Loch in between, you could hardly want for a better way into the Highlands. Leaving Balloch for Helensburgh, the Three Lochs Way drops through Glen Fruin, climbing above Garelochhead for views of the Arrochar Alps that merit their altitudinous name. One of Scotland’s Great Trails, it then tucks up Glen Loin to Inveruglus, where in summer a waterbus waits to ferry you back down Loch Lomond in style.
