THEN ‘Life is stressful, inactive and repetitive'
NOW ‘I’ve found my escape’
For single mum Kitty May, the challenge and nature have helped her hardships head on. ‘Walking in the woods brings me so much joy; I can forget about my life just for a moment. Having the challenge has helped me face the hardship of being a single mum on the poverty line. In dark moments, I remember my favourite tree which I walk past daily. This beech has a whopping big wound, and from there, new roots are growing. It’s healing and carrying on, a reminder never to give up. And winter shows me slowly letting go of what isn’t necessary for survival, and taking the time to rest, is a necessary part of life. Walking is a major priority now – it really brings joy to my life.’
