About our reviews

We’ve chosen 10 insulated jackets which should be available in shops and/or online at the time of going to press. Philip and Sarah path tested five each, and all but two are available in both men’s and women’s styles (indicated by these dots ). We rate each jacket on comfort (how it fits and feels), performance (how warm and breathable it is), versatility (how adaptable it is) and value for money. We don’t select an overall winner as no single option will suit everybody, but Philip and Sarah have chosen their favourites and selected the one that represents best value for money.
