Further to Michael Crouch's letter, I agree Norfolk has more than its fair share of medieval churches. I’ve enclosed two from South Norfolk. One is of Hopton Church which is of flint construction and has a square tower – built in the 1300s and of Norman design. The other is from the hamlet of Thorpe near Haddiscoe – a flint and round tower, Saxon design. The Saxons built the tower to just above the height of the thatched roof. You will see a line on this church – above it is a Norman extension.
