A bit about WARM LAYERS
The walking version of the jumper/jacket usually comes in two forms: fleece or soft shell.
Fleece is instantly snug and warm, and usually a little cheaper than soft shell. Soft shell isn’t as instantly toasty but it’s more adaptable; soft shell jackets are stretchy, snag-proof and usually DWR-treated (see
Trousers) so they can withstand a bit of rain and are really good at responding to your body temperature, heating or cooling you on the go. Just don’t confuse them with waterproofs, because they aren’t.
Our mid layer review comes out on March 3rd.
