Who doesn’t like robins, right? That was exactly my frame of mind before I met the pushy robins of the

Ben Lomond car park. I’d dropped my friend off at the ticket machine while

I went to park the car. On stepping out of the vehicle, in that split second, a robin flew in, straight into the footwell, where it proceeded to hunt for the inevitable crumbs. The cheeky little flocker! I couldn’t help but feel admiration for its cunning and its willingness to adapt its behaviour in order to survive.

When my friend came back with the ticket, I told him there was a robin in the car. He looked at me wearily, but had a look. Sure enough he couldn’t see it and just as he was letting me know what he thought of me, it flew out right past his head, causing him to step back in alarm.
