SWAP Love Island FOR Llandwyn Island

-

Love it, loathe it or ignore it, Love Island doesn’t half sell the concepts of sun, sea, sand and other things starting with S, especially thanks to its locations, which have mostly been on gorgeous Mallorca. And yes, Britain has a few coastal resorts which aim to match up to all those promises. But our real Love Island is Llanddwyn, a tiny tidal island at the south-western tip of its much larger parent island, Anglesey. Not only is Llanddwyn stunning by itself, with rocky headlands, white sands, dreaming pines and probably the cutest lighthouse in the country, but it was the home of Wales’ answer to St Valentine, St Dwynwen. Versions of her legend vary, but they all end up here, where Dwynwen prayed for the happiness of all lovers and dedicated her life to healing people. We reckon that’s a much nicer way to find love on an island this year.
