Electrician to become king…

-

…of Piel Island (probably). Submarine electrician Aaron Sanderson has been tipped to become the new landlord of The Ship Inn and thus the King of Piel, a tradition stemming from events in 1487 when an army hoping to overthrow Henry VII and put 10-year-old Lambert Simnel on the throne camped on this Cumbrian island. At low tide, with care, you can walk across the sands from Walney Island to Piel (or there’s a summer ferry from Roa Island), where the new monarch will be crowned by having buckets of alcohol poured on his head.

See islandeering.com/activity/piel-islandwalk-from-walney-island/ for route details.
