Do more on your miles & win treasure!
Spice up your miles with one of our quests this month, post the result in the Facebook group and our favourite 20 #minichallenge completers will win a Golden Badge! You have until 26 May for this crop. Look out for the winners in two issues’ time – you’ll need your copy to claim your prize, as it’s our way of thanking readers for keeping us going!
21 CLIMB A TREE
Not climbed a tree since you were wee? Your body will remember and rejoice. Get in among the branches (mind how you go) and feel the grip of good bark, the sway of the breeze, the company of birds.
22 RAISE A TOAST
Inspired by Victoria Lewis‘s sunrise pic of Marmite on toast on top of Mam Tor, we’d like to see more toast elevated to unexpected heights. How high will your Hovis go, we wonder?
23 EAT HAWTHORN
It’s enjoyably crazy-seeming to nibble on a tree but now’s the time to do it. The young leaves and shoots of hawthorn (or May Tree as it used to be known) are edible. Have a chew, and share your review!
24 FIND A FOLLY
Buildings are more fun when they’re built on a whim – and they make a splendid focus for a walk ‘just because’. Find a pointless structure near you on the useful map at walk1000miles.co.uk/follies
25 ERECT A TENT IN A STRANGE PLACE
It’s time you dusted off your homefrom-home and where better to test-erect it than on a roundabout? In a multistorey? In a church? Under water? Surprise us.
