The spirit of Kinder lives on
April marked 90 years since the mass trespass on Kinder Scout in the Peak District, when workers protested for the right to walk Britain’s countryside. A number of events marked the anniversary and updated its message. The Kinder in Colour walk (kinderincolour.land) brought together Black People and People of Colour (BPOC) to address unequal access to green spaces, with speakers including author Anita Sethi (below). Organiser Sam Siva said: “By connecting to nature, celebrating our rich cultures and dreams, we can create a new culture for the countryside, one which embraces change, biodiversity and difference.” And at Kinder Reservoir, bathers dived in to campaign for the right to swim in inland waters (outdoorswimmingsociety.com).
