Puffin Shuttle for St David’s

-

The Puffin Shuttle, Poppit Rocket, Strumble Shuttle, Coastal Cruiser, Celtic Coaster: the 240 square miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast are well served by jauntily-named buses, particularly in summer. They make exploring the shorehugging national park a breeze: the local drivers happily advise on the best places to walk and you can hail and ride anywhere along a route so there’s no schlepping miles to find a bus stop. Like a kid at an ice cream van, you’ll be spoilt for choice but top picks include the county’s highest cliffs between Poppit Sands and Parrog using the Poppit Rocket (see Walk 21), and the long strand of Newgale* to the tiny city named after Wales’ patron saint, along a bit of coast that looks like it’s been cut with pinking shears. Highlights include the fishing village of Solva, countless coves and headlands, and a clifftop chapel marking the spot where St Non is said to have given birth to St David.
