SUN-PROOF YOUR RUCKSACK
Like waterproof jackets, most synthetic rucksack fabrics (typically nylon or polyester) are coated with a raindrop-shedding durable water repellent. It degrades with prolonged exposure to sunlight, which also reduces a fabric’s tear strength. You can protect your pack from ultraviolet rays by periodically applying a specially formulated spray-on proofer, such as Nikwax’s Tent & Gear SolarProof (a 500ml bottle is £7.75). Water based and PFC free, it’s essentially sunscreen for your rucksack.
