‘If you can’t do it midweek, think about starting at Ribblehead with Whernside – the only problem is the last section of the walk is the long drag from Pen-y-ghent to Ribblehead. But enjoy it and prepare to feel very proud of your achievement at the end of the day!’ – Sue Calvert

Pen-y-ghent and Whernside – get some pace up while it’s flat – and the same with the walk back after Ingleborough. But it’s more about mental strength than physical fitness. You’ll need more water than you think: the road between Whernside and Ingleborough is handy to leave a support vehicle with more supplies as you cross it twice. Not essential but saves you carrying so much.’ – Debs Carter
