FERRY 5 minutes WALK 9 miles 2018 saw the revival of a much-missed ferry service over the Afon Tywi. A brand new 10-seater amphibious craft now scoots over the sands, connecting the railway request stop at Ferryside – now aptly named again – with Llansteffan, a charming village dominated by a fine Norman castle (cadw.gov.wales). From Llansteffan’s ferry point, walk through the village and along Church Road to the castle. After visiting, continue along the road to join the Wales Coast Path for views of the glorious sands of the Taf, Laugharne Castle and Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse. At Mwche, head up the lane into Llanybri, taking the first right after Lon y Deri. At the end, rejoin the Wales Coast Path to drop back down into Llansteffan. Post-walk refreshment can be had at the village’s Castle Inn, the Inn at the Sticks or the Beach Shop and Tea Room.
