Thank you!

I’d just like to say a big thank you to Editor Guy for his response to the letter titled Discriminatory? in the July issue.

Being of mixed race, a woman and having family members who represent themselves as LGBTQ+ I have encountered more casual racism/sexism/homophobia than is welcome. Most is not meant maliciously but is born out of a privilege that many people are unaware they have. Groups like Black Girls Hike not only give members a safe space, but also help to bring up minority groups to a place where we can feel represented and equal with other groups. It will be great when we live in a world where ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation etc don’t give rise to unconscious bias, but given the email you received we’re not there yet. Thanks again for your response, it made me proud to be a subscriber to such a positive, welcoming mag.
