CRAGHOPPERS
Kiwi Pro II
RRP £55 Target price £38.50 Craghoppers’ Kiwi trousers are the brand’s best-selling product line. The reason for their popularity is simple: they are terrifically comfy to walk in. Moreover, they are suited to all kinds of walking – from trekking the Pennine Way in spring to a midwinter saunter finishing up at a cosy pub. These are the latest softshell Kiwis, fashioned from Craghoppers’ Pro Stretch fabric. Neither overly thick nor thin, excessively baggy or tight – on me, at least – they have a flattering, unhindering fit. The fabric is finished with a plant-based and PFCfree durable water repellent, and that’s not the only eco credential. Roughly 280g of recycled materials (from plastic bottles) goes into each pair. They don’t come with a belt, but there are six wide loops ready to fit your own around the partially elasticated waistband. There are four pockets, all zipped: one on the right thigh, another at the back and two angled-entry hand pockets, one of which comes with a removable glasses wipe inside. Reinforced strips at the hems are another neat touch. Hard to fault, the Kiwi Pros are brilliantly versatile trousers.
