WALK HERE

Download Gragareth at walk1000miles.co.uk/bonusroutes.

It doesn’t include Yordas Cave sadly – but that’s easily reached from the laybys on the Kingsdale road which passes directly beneath it.

GETTING THERE

Our Gragareth route starts from the village of Ireby, just off the A65, three miles north-west of Ingleton.

WHERE TO EAT, DRINK & STAY

We’re big fans of the Marton Arms in Thornton at the bottom of the Kingsdale road (015242 42204,

martonarms.co.uk), which offers doubles with breakfast from £95 per room, and field-to-fork mains such as steak and ale pie for around £12. A little further away, we also love the Traddock at Austwick (015242 51224, the

traddock.co.uk) which has doubles from £125 and serious Yorkshire haute cuisine around the £25 mark. The excellent Meadow Falls campsite near Ingleton (07894 596523, meadowfalls.co.uk) has pitches from £22.50 in high season or £17.50 at quieter times.
