Country Walking Magazine (UK)

That’s the way to do it!

-

I’ve just walked the 500-mile Camino Frances with my 15-year-old son.

It was an incredible experience and one I know I would never have been able to manage without Country Walking and #walk1000miles.

It was a beautiful, at times physically challenging yet meditative journey. I couldn’t quite believe how quickly my body adapted to long-distance walking. My head and body seemed to merge as the rhythm of every step almost danced my feet along the trail.

I loved every second and am so grateful I felt physically well and able to complete one of my life-long dreams.

Thank you CW for the daily encouragement towards good physical health and mental wellbeing. The Camino has certainly done something! I cannot stop walking at the moment and it feels like magic.

Country Walking has seen me through some tough years. Without the daily motivation I honestly think I would have found those years even tougher, so huge thanks to you and your team. I personally feel the magazine should be prescribed by every GP in the country (world). So many difficult times were soothed (even if I didn’t realise it at the time) by the simple act of getting outside for a walk every day.

Achieving something like the Camino is huge but I know it was those magic three miles a day, your inspiration and the wonderful stories shared by other 1000-milers which contributed to me achieving this goal.

I love this family you guys have created and am proud to be part of it.

A huge heartfelt thanks to you all. Jeanie Butler, by email
