Meet the technology- packed new boot from Terrein that could spell the end of hillwalking ankle injuries.

We’ve seen a lot of hillwalking boot launches at Country Walking over the years, but what we don’t often see is something completely new and unlike anything that’s been released before. Which is why our ears pricked up when we heard about this new boot from Terrein, which claims to be the first in the world with ‘adaptive ankle protection’.

The thinking behind the Terrein Ascent is that since approximately 40% of all hiking injuries occur in the ankle, they wanted to create footwear that allows natural freedom of motion, and only engages the protection system when needed to stop the ankle from twisting.
