While this is hardly the most compact portable seating option, it’s great for the beach, or anywhere else that is a short walk away and lacking in natural backrests. Wrapping around your back and legs as you lean back, it’s a beautifully simple concept: a padded seat and backrest held into a chair shape by adjustable canvas straps, which when unclipped can be used to lash tight the folded-up chair. Simple but effective. Made from durable 600 denier polyester, it’s surprisingly comfy and stable as well, with sturdy composite stays sewn into the backrest and seat.

It’s too much of a space-filler to be shoehorned into a daypack, however.
