WHY REPROOF?

Over time the Durable Water Repellent coating on your raincoat will wear off due to dirt and abrasion. This causes coats to ‘wet out’, feel heavy and lose breathability, as water vapour cannot escape. Nikwax TX.Direct leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibres, keeping the coat from wetting out whilst allowing moisture vapour to pass through, maintaining breathability. (You can check if a product needs reproofing by running it under a cold tap and seeing whether the water beads up or if the garment wets out.)

WET

Dirt, contaminants, and abrasion can destroy the water repellency of wet weather gear. Once a jacket wets out it loses breathability so that moisture can’t escape, leaving the wearer damp and clammy.
