LORPEN T3 All Season Trekker
There are perhaps a couple of life experiences more joyous than pulling on a pair of snug, breathable, supportive socks on a winter’s morning. But not many. Other garments are helpful, practical, exciting. Socks are more than that; they’re like friends. Or they will be, if you get the right pair. Take this one. Lorpen’s T3 All Season Trekker is one of the most advanced winter walking socks you can buy (even better if you buy two) the perfect blend of warmth, strength, support and shape-retention over time. Here’s the inside story.
A CLUE IN THE NAME
Lorpen describe the T3 All Season Trekker as ‘super-heavy and reinforced for maximum protection’, especially in autumn and winter. And yet it’s still light and flexible enough to compete with most other walking socks on the market – and to be useful throughout the year.
FRICTION FREE
Heavy cushioning at the toe and heel prevents friction and eases the impact of stony paths and tracks. And a flat-knit toe seam means no irritation on your toes.
ALL IN THE MIX
The T3 All Season Trekker is made with a blend of 51% Coolmax polyester, 10% Lyocell Tencel, 29% nylon and 10% Lycra. This makes it warm but breathable, and reassuringly thick but joyously stretchy.
WHAT’S TENCEL?
Tencel is a cellulose fibre which comes from eucalyptus plants on certified sustainable plantations. Tencel’s nano-structure provides exceptional wicking, accumulation, expansion and drying of moisture. So it provides a layer that is soft to the touch and comfortable against the skin.
WHAT’S COOLMAX?
Coolmax is a polyester yarn with channels to efficiently transport moisture away from the skin to the outside of the sock. Its fibres work to move perspiration away from the body and through the fabric, where it can evaporate quickly, allowing the wearer to feel cooler and more comfortable.
AND THE REST…
The final ingredients are a layer of stretch nylon with Lycra woven in. These add durability and ensure the socks stay up without slipping down to your toes. Nylon is a synthetic continuous fibre characterised by its resistance and capacity to cushion. Lycra is a synthetic elastane fibre that can stretch up to six times its length and return to its original state.
