Fired and inspired

Eighteen months ago I came across CW for the first time, liked what I saw and read it from cover to cover. I have purchased every issue since then. I’d read outdoor magazines before but this one appealed in a way none of the others had.

What particularly struck me was the concept of Walk 1000 miles and the stories of people who had overcome physical, emotional and psychological problems to take part. And there was I feeling sorry for myself because of a couple of troublesome knees. I resolved this year to do my best to join the hardy souls who were putting me to shame, and by 30 September I’d reached 578 miles and there are still three months of the year left. I haven’t officially joined the walk1000miles family but that’s the aim for 2023. Here’s to next year, going wherever I am able and hopefully meeting 1000-milers along the way.
