MAKE STICK PLANT MARKERS

- Carve yourself pretty markers to keep track of your seedlings

by Hannah Tribe

YOU WILL NEED

Thumb-thick sticks Sharp utility knife Permanent marker

1. Carve one end of your stick into a point. Remember to cut away from you and that it’s safer to make several cuts lightly, rather than to cut very deeply.

2. At the other end of the stick, use the knife to shave off a slice of bark and a little of the wood until you have a clear, flat space.

3. With a marker pen, write the name of your plant on the flat wood. You can paint the end red so it’s easy to find. Push the pointed end into the soil next to your plant.

4. You can make a gift for a green-fingered friend by carving sticks and tying them with ribbon. Add a permanent marker to the bundle so they can add their plant names.
