In the USA, the National Resources Defense Council says that loopholes in drug laws allows the routine use of antibiotics to continue. US chicken companies are not required to disclose what drugs they use, or the quantities in which they are deployed. “Antibiotics are widely available, particularly in the developing world where they are not controlled by vets,” says John FitzGerald of RUMA. “But even if the task seems vast on a global scale, we need to do what we can.”
