In the USA, the National Resources Defense Council says that loopholes in drug laws allows the routine use of antibiotic­s to continue. US chicken companies are not required to disclose what drugs they use, or the quantities in which they are deployed. “Antibiotic­s are widely available, particular­ly in the developing world where they are not controlled by vets,” says John FitzGerald of RUMA. “But even if the task seems vast on a global scale, we need to do what we can.”
