TRANQUIL JAPANESE GARDEN

Countryfile Magazine - - Contents -

An elegant bridge leaps a lily pond towards a tea house in this serene blend of water, light and colour. This garden at the National Trust’s Tatton Park, Cheshire, was created by Alan de Tatton after visiting the Japanese Exhibition in London in 1910. He employed a team of Japanese workers to build a classic tea garden around the existing stream and specimen trees and it is regarded as the finest Japanese garden in Europe.
