LOOK OUT FOR: RIVER EXE
Avocets are the star turn, but large numbers of both black- and bar-tailed godwits (above) – recently arrived from Iceland – can be seen close-up. Brent geese graze on the estuary’s eel grass. Peregrines are resident, and ospreys sometimes stop off on their autumn migration. On the water, keep an eye out for grey seals.
