LOOK OUT FOR: RIVER AXE

There are plenty of other waders and wildfowl to see on this estuary, such as snipe and shovelers. Other wetland birds in autumn and winter include great crested (above) and little grebes, cormorants, grey herons, little egrets and, occasionally, cattle egrets. Barn owls and kestrels hunt in the riverside fields.
