Rules of origin?

-

Rules of origin impose tariffs on products made in the UK but which include ingredients sourced from outside the UK or EU. “Up to 50 % of rural producers have no experience of these rules because until now they have never needed it,” says Ian Wright, chief executive of the Food and Drink Federation. “It’s fiendishly difficult.” The Brexit deal means that if a marmalade producer in Herefordshire uses Seville oranges (from Spain) there shouldn’t be a problem but if they also use oranges from Morocco, then import tariffs must be paid by their EU importer.
