CCTV plea after gnomes smashed

POLICE have released CCTV images of three men they would like to speak to after gnomes were destroyed at a popular tourist attraction.

More than 100 of the figures at the Echills Wood Railway gnome village were smashed up in the second attack in just over six months.

They were destroyed at around 8pm on Thursday, April 6 and left the volunteers at the railway heartbroken.

Officers investigating criminal damage at the attraction at Kingsbury Water Park are now appealing for information and have published the images as they continue to investigate.

They say they have released photos of men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC Scott Ramsell said: “This was mindless vandalism, there’s no other way to describe it.

“The Echills Wood Railway is run by volunteers and all the gnomes were kindly donated.

“They bring pleasure to thousands of people who go on the railway every year. ”

In the first attack at the North Warwickshire attraction in September more than 40 gnomes were beheaded or smashed, railway signs were bent, the track had been interfered with, and the head of the lone model crocodile at the railway’s Crocodile Creek had been broken.

The community rallied round and donated new gnomes to replace the old ones but after this second strike the volunteers who run the railway have said it won’t be possible to restore the attraction to its former glory.

If anyone has any infor- mation that could help police with their enquiries they can call 101 and quote incident 103 of 7 April 2017.
