21-YEAR-OLD MAN WHO ‘TRAGICALLY LOST HIS LIFE’

POLICE have released a photo of the man killed following an incident in Atherstone at the weekend.

Jake Palfreyman, 21, has been formally identified by Warwickshi­re Police.

He died from head injuries in hospital on Monday, May 29 following an incident in Barsby Close, Atherstone on Sunday night.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with informatio­n about the incident to contact them.

Warwickshi­re Police believe Jake was involved in several incidents on Sunday.

They say a window was smashed at a property in Barsby Close, and believe that there was then an altercatio­n between him and a 20-year-old man outside the White Horse pub in Long Street. The final incident, which happened back in Barsby Close, is believed to have led to his death. Detective Inspector Anna Middleton said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has provided informatio­n so far, we are starting to get a better picture of Jake’s final hours. “We believe Jake was involved in a series of incidents that have culminated in him receiving a serious head injury and falling unconsciou­s. We’re especially keen to speak to anyone with informatio­n about the final moments leading up to this incident. “A young man has tragically lost his life and any piece of informatio­n, no matter how small, may help us establish how this has happened.”

A flat in Nuneaton has been searched in connection with the incident. Forensic officers have been seen at the property in Edward Street over the last few days.

One man remains in custody and two other men were also arrested in connection with the murder investigat­ion.

A 50-year-old man from Atherstone arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident has been bailed until the end of June.

A 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has now been bailed until the end of June.

A 20-year-old man from Atherstone who was originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released under investigat­ion.
