The two-time Wimbledon champion pulled the covers off the new estate car before placing his Wimbledon trophy inside and waving it off on a UKwide tour as part of a drive to inspire the next generation of tennis players.

The new model is launched as Jaguar celebrates 10 years of XF production, which is manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover’s Castle Bromwich plant alongside the XE, XJ and F-Type.

The new Sportbrake, the second generation estate version of the XF, will offer a host of special features, including:

Gesture Control, which enables drivers to open the boot or panoramic sun blind with a wave of the hand.

It will also have optional Cabin Air Ionisation to provide clean air throughout the cabin and a panoramic roof to allow light into the car.

It has a two-tonne tow- ing capacity and there’s a range of four-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel engines to choose from, as well as a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol and a 298bhp TDV6 diesel.

The new model was unveiled on a replica of the famous Centre Court, reflecting the fact Jaguar is the official car partner of The Wimbledon Championships.

Jaguar design supremo Ian Callum said: “The iconic Jaguar posters of the 1950s promised customers grace, pace and space.

“The XF Sportbrake reimagines this offer for 21st-century active families, with stunning looks, sports car performance and a load space fit for active lifestyles.”

Speaking about its unveiling and the Sportbrake playing a role in encouraging more young people to take up tennis, Andy Murray said: “I feel very lucky to have got to where I am today and hope that anyone passionate about tennis gets the opportunity to play and improve.

“Letting go of the trophy will be difficult, but there’s no better vehicle than the Jaguar XF Sportbrake to take it on this UK tour.”
