Beavon expected to return, but Vincenti still a doubt

- City striker Stuart Beavon

COVENTRY City boss Mark Robins is expected to have striker Stuart Beavon back for this afternoon’s Ricoh Arena clash with Crewe Alexandra, although Peter Vincenti might be touch and go.

Beavon has missed two games after pulling his back in the warm-up ahead of last Saturday’s home win against Exeter City, forcing him to miss the midweek trip to Swindon Town, but was due back in training yesterday.

Vincenti, meanwhile, suffered a gash to his knee in the opening five minutes against the Grecians last weekend and had to go off.

“Peter may be a doubt for Crewe,” said Sky Blues manager Robins.

“There was a hole in the top of his knee and you could see all sorts of things inside there, so he’s had a problem with that.

“It obviously stiffened up and he’s been waiting for the swelling to go down and bruising to disperse.

“He might be all right but we’ll see how much he wants to play.”

As for Beavon , he said: “He just needed his back manipulating with a bit of physio, so he should be OK.”

Marc McNulty could play a more prominent part against Alexandra after making his comeback late on in the 2-1 victory at Swindon on Tuesday night, having been named on the bench against Exeter but not used after recovering from a hamstring strain.

But given how well Duckens Nazon and Max Biamou started at the County Ground earlier this week, it’s likely that the manager will stick with the pair and continue to ease McNulty back in.

Nazon, of course, is due to go on
