A FAMILY has been left devastated after their seven-month-old son was diagnosed with epilepsy - and they don’t know how long he will live for.

Little Austin Martin was a normal four-month-old boy until his mum Hannah started noticing him behaving differently.

She found he was becoming more vacant and less active, and it was then their world was turned upside down.

Hannah, 31, said: “It started when he was four months old and we started to see a few changes.

“He was quite vacant and wasn’t really responding.

“While we were in hospital, he had a diagnosis of epilepsy.

“He is on seven lots of medication now.

“We were in Coventry but now in Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”

Austin has been in the second city hospital for six weeks now, and in intensive care for just over a fortnight.

Hannah, from Coventry, still doesn’t know how he will be treated or what they can do for him.

“Austin has now been in intensive care for 15 days, and there are no signs of any answers. “He won’t get better. “They told us life expectancy isn’t great with a condition like this.

“He is still fighting, we need a specialist to help him.

“We don’t know what or how long he has left. I have spent three months by his side.

“It has all come from being diagnosed with epilepsy.”

A GoFundMe page has now been set up for Hannah and Austin and for any help they need to get through the uncertain months.

Coventry Mummies on Facebook have set the page up for Hannah, who is a member.

Austin may need to be transferred again, so Hannah and her family and friends want to be prepared.

Hannah added: “I am overwhelmed by the support we have had.

“It has made it easier, the friends and family we have behind us have been amazing.

“The donations that are coming in to the page will fund anything we need for him.”
