City handed lucrative tie with Potters

COVENTRY City have been handed a potentiall­y moneyspinn­ing FA Cup third round tie against Premier League side Stoke City.

Mark Robins’ side dumped National League outfit Boreham Wood out of the cup on Sunday with Duckens Nazon, Marc McNulty and Jordan Shipley getting the goals in a 3-0 victory at the Ricoh Arena.

And the Sky Blues, who are yet to concede a goal in this season’s competitio­n, have been handed one of the ties of the round with another home tie against the Potters.

Robins and his players will return to League Two action at the weekend and will put their cup exploits to the back of their minds. The clash against Stoke – managed by Robins’ former Man United tea-mate Mark Hughes – will take place between January 5-7.

Liverpool and Everton face an all-Merseyside FA Cup showdown next month after being drawn out together.

The pair, who last met in the tournament in the 2012 semifinal which Liverpool won 2-1, will play each other at Anfield.

Non-league Hereford will welcome 2016 Premier League champions Leicester to Edgar Street provided they win their replay against Fleetwood.

Premier League leaders Man City are at home to Burnley, while potential upsets include West Ham’s trip to League One high-flyers Shrewsbury, and Championsh­ip leaders Wolves at home to ailing Swansea.

Manchester United are at home to Championsh­ip Derby, Tottenham meet League One AFC Wimbledon at Wembley, while Arsenal face a difficult trip to Nottingham Forest.

Brighton and Crystal Palace will rekindle their rivalry at the AMEX Stadium after last month’s goalless draw which was marred by crowd trouble.
