Why build for students if families are homeless?

-

THE council meeting on December 5 was told that the housing figures were not accurate. So why should we believe what this council says any more?

It was the look of surprise from the councillors, when a man from the gallery held up a voting party paper and mentioned voting was not too far away.

It would be rewarding to have a complete change of power in Coventry and I would not mind as to who steered the ship. We are heading for the rocks, if not already on them.

We need a fresh, clean sweep in the council, as at present it is a one-sided affair, as with the vote for building on the green belt. Why keep building student flats when we need houses for families?

We do not have an equilibrium – surely the council can see this.

Looking after the homeless has always fallen on the Salvation Army and they do an exceptional job. Why can’t the council work with these people who are good at it and help them to help the homeless?

As for housing families with no homes, this is strange as where have these people suddenly come from and how did they exist before?

We must put the brakes on people who come to Coventry and assume they will get a property to live in right away. When the bus is full the driver says so, so why can’t Coventry be honest and say we have enough people at present to house. Sandra Camwell Keresley
