Crime Reporter A MAN from Radford forced his way in to a flat and then carried out an attack using a rounders bat.

Rory Green pleaded guilty to using violence to gain entry to a premises, possession of an offensive weapon and two counts of assault by beating following an incident in Wyken last month. However, the 51-year-old, of Treherne Road, avoided going straight to prison after being given an 18-week prison sentence suspended for a year at Coventry Magistrate­s’ Court.

Green, who also admitted three driving offences from the same day, was also given 100 hours unpaid work, had six points endorsed on his driving licence and was ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Other cases heard at Coventry Magistrate­s’ Court from March 23 to 26, included: Anthony Lucid, 29, of Honeysuckl­e Drive, Aldermans Green, admitted dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and possessing cannabis. He was fined £145, ordered to do 140 hours unpaid work, banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £100 court costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Thomas Osbourne-Baker, 18, of Middleboro­ugh Road, Radford, admitted failing to stop at the scene of an accident, driving without reasonable considerat­ion for other road users, driving without insurance and driving without a licence. He was fined £150, had six points endorsed on his driving licence and was ordered to pay £70 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Mohammed Siddiq, 23, of Longfellow Road, Wyken, admitted damaging a car windscreen, breaching a restrainin­g order and two counts of assault by beating. He was sent to prison for 18 weeks and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Sergey Balatayev, 37, of The Moorfield, Stoke Aldermoor, admitted stealing cosmetics worth £600 from Boots, stealing flowers worth £15 from Tesco, causing damage worth £200 to security tags, going equipped for theft (foil lined bag) and possessing diamorphin­e. He was given a community order including a drug rehabilita­tion requiremen­t, fined £85 and ordered to pay £200 compensati­on, £100 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Peter Clifford, 48, of Edgehill Place, Tile Hill, admitted two counts of stealing from Bannerbroo­k Pharmacy and eight counts of stealing items including chocolates , meat and spirits worth a total of £599 from Spar.

He was sent to prison for 18 weeks and ordered to pay a total of £385 compensati­on.
