Woman given community order for theft of Mercedes
£9K CAR TAKEN FROM FINANCE COMPANY
A WOMAN who stole a Mercedes from a finance company was punished by being made to do unpaid work.
Constanta Tutu failed to show at the city’s magistrates’ court and the 34-year-old was found guilty of the theft of the silver Mercedes C200, worth £9,241, from MotoNovo Finance Ltd.
The offences took place between April and June last year.
Tutu, of Sewall Highway, Wyken, was handed a community order including 150 hours’ unpaid work and made to pay £300 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
Other cases heard at Coventry Magistrates’ Court from April 9 to April 12: Dean Alton, 41, of no fixed address, stole perfume worth £580 from Boots. He was sent to
prison for 17 weeks due to “record of previous offending” and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Mitchell Willison, 21, of Wyken Croft, Wyken, admitted failing to stop when ordered to do so by a police officer, driving without due care and attention, ignoring a red traffic light, driving without a licence and causing £200 worth of damage to a prison cell light. He was banned from driving for six months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £200 compensation and a £30 victim surcharge.
Rory Balcarres, 27, of Robin Hood Road, Willenhall, admitted stealing £2,500 worth of power tolls as a trespasser. He was handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for a year, given a six-week curfew with an electronic tag from 9pm5am and ordered to pay £500 compensation. Kieran McSweeney, 18, of Brightmere Road,
Radford, admitted taking a vehicle without consent, riding a motorcycle without protective headgear, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and possession of cannabis. He was given a nine-month conditional discharge, banned from driving for six months and ordered to pay £185 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
George Beale, 57, of Nunts Lane, Holbrooks, admitted drink-driving in Parkville Highway (breath 99, limit 35) and failing to stop at scene of an accident. He was banned from driving for two years, fined £140 and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. Anamaria Urlea, 26, of Leicester Causeway, Foleshill, admitted stealing various items worth £1,468 from B&Q. She was fined £240 and ordered to pay £185 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
