YOUNG pho­tog­ra­phers in Coven­try and the sur­round­ing ar­eas have been given the chance to show­case their tal­ents and win a prize in a com­pe­ti­tion be­ing run by Coven­try Phoenix Ro­tary Club.

The Ro­tary Young Pho­tog­ra­phers com­pe­ti­tion will have three age groups (seven to 10 years; 11 to 13 years and 14 to 17 years) and will com­prise three stages – lo­cal, re­gional and na­tional.

There will be cash prizes for the group win­ners.

The aim of the com­pe­ti­tion is to en­cour­age young peo­ple to ex­per­i­ment with photography, ex­press their ideas through the medium of photography and show in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the theme, which is ‘The Beauty of Na­ture’.

En­trants are re­quired to pro­duce a port­fo­lio of three pho­to­graphs based on the theme, in colour or black and white, on pho­to­graphic pa­per and im­ages should be no more than A4 size.

Both tra­di­tional and digital meth­ods of photography, in­clud­ing mo­bile phones, can be used. The com­pe­ti­tion is open to any­one within the three age groups.
