National Trust creates winter wonderlands

Historic properties get festive this Christmas

-

IT’S December so we’re allowed to dive head-first into everything Christmassy to get us well and truly into the festive mood.

And at National Trust properties this month, you can deck the halls, see the lights twinkle, buy a host of Christmas pressies – or even escape the hustle and bustle with a winter walk.

There are so many events for all the family.

Across the country, historic houses will be decked for the season in the style of centuries gone by and visitors can stroll through frosty gardens covered in sparkling lights. Indulge yourself in mince pies, mulled wine and magic – at one of the many Christmas markets, soaking up the festive spirit and enjoying the picturesque stalls laden with gorgeous handmade crafts, local food and extra special gifts. And even though it’s a busy time of year for Santa Claus, he’s found time to stop off in some glorious grottoes created in the most amazing locations from castles to wonderful woodland hideaways.

Have a word with Father Christmas to make sure he’s got your wish list this year – or listen to him and Mother Christmas entrance everyone with their stories of the Christmas traditions, in certain NT locations.

If you want to escape the festive flurry (at least until the Big Day itself arrives), wrap yourself up and go on a National Trust winter walk to blow all those cobwebs away and enjoy the best of December’s scenery and wildlife.
