AR­REST AFTER MAN SHOT DEAD

PO­LICE LAUNCH AP­PEAL AS THEY CARRY OUT HOUSE-TO-HOUSE ENQUIRIES IN COVENTRY STREET

PO­LICE have ar­rested a man on sus­pi­cion of mur­der after an­other man was shot dead in Coventry.

Of­fices were called to an ad­dress in Chep­stow Close, Wil­len­hall, at just after 1am yes­ter­day morn­ing.

The vic­tim, who has not yet been for­mally iden­ti­fied, was pro­nounced dead at the scene.

West Mid­lands Po­lice has stated that a 44-year-old man has been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of mur­der and is cur­rently in po­lice cus­tody for ques­tion­ing.

A spokesman said: “The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is at an early stage and house-to­house and CCTV enquiries are be­ing car­ried out.”

West Mid­lands Am­bu­lance Ser­vice have also con­firmed they were called to the scene in the early hours of this morn­ing.

A spokesman for the trust said: “West Mid­lands Am­bu­lance Ser­vice can con­firm that it was called to re­ports of a pa­tient who had been shot in Chep­stow Close, Wil­len­hall, Coventry shortly after 1.00am this morn­ing (Fri­day).

“An am­bu­lance, a para­medic of­fi­cer and a crit­i­cal care car from the Air Am­bu­lance Ser­vice re­sponded to the scene.”

“Crews ar­rived to find a man with se­ri­ous in­juries who was in car­diac ar­rest.

“Am­bu­lance staff worked quickly to ad­min­is­ter ad­vanced life sup­port at the scene.

“Sadly, de­spite their best ef­forts noth­ing could be done to save the man and he was con­firmed dead a short time later.”
