I WAS sorry to read about the difficulties B Morton is aware of in relation to events at Coventry Cathedral (Dec 4) and grateful for the opportunity to respond to the concerns raised.

First, we’re well aware that some people are unable to book in advance or use our online facility and so, unless we are sold out (as we were for the G4 concert last month), we always make tickets available on the door. We would be daft not to.

Secondly, in the light of the undoubted problems people had when booking tickets for the War Requiem, we have now changed our online ticketing agency.

Thirdly, it is our clear policy to respond to phone messages and I can only think that technology let us down in relation to B Morton’s recent enquiry.

Finally, I apologise for the inadequate notice given about the cancellation of the We Remember event. Being told when we slip up is really helpful and we will aim to do better in future. Canon David Stone Sub-Dean and Precentor establishment don’t want to listen to them.

There are no images of the Brexit march or quotes from any of their spokespersons featured in the article. There is footage of thousands more protesters than the antifa rabble, so the mainstream media and local press appear to be misrepresenting the events.

The Telegraph also features Nigel Farage in their Quotes of the Day section (Dec 10). Farage says the party is becoming a party of street activism rather than taking the fight to the ballot box.

It’s funny how Farage didn’t make this argument when he was travelling around the country on his Leave Means Leave bus. Gerard Batten has said that taking votes away from the politicians in power is the only the thing that has an effect.

Farage is disappointed that the party has moved on without him. People may end up phoning Farage on his radio show in future simply to ask him who he is. Ian A Rogers Coventry UKIP

Good number of pubs for our city

THERE are more than 100 pubs in Coventry, which is a very good total for our citizens.

It is true that there were a lot more in the past which had a terrible smoky atmosphere due to smokers. Also we are sensible with regard to drinking and driving. Ian Harris Radford

Flag comparison not quite right

P ALDERS from Allesley (Dec 12) is not comparing our Coventry flag’s blue bands properly.

The Argentine flag that he complains about has blue bands across the top and bottom, similar to El Salvador.

For bands along the sides, our flag is similar to Guatemala. Sheila Bates Tile Hill South

The bosses running this racket, they enjoyed a bumper six per cent pay rise last year, pocketing an average salary of £344,000. There is reward for failure.

Why should taxpayers’ money, to the tune of £4 billion a year subsidies, help to line the pockets of overpaid, fat cat controllers?

And why is Chris Grayling, the most useless transport secretary in history, doing nothing to cap prices or curb this boardroom greed?

There was already a strong case for taking railways back into public control. The argument is now overwhelming. Andy McDonald Tile Hill
